A student art pass, retailing at £10 per person, has been released, allowing students access to hundreds of cultural destinations for free, with many major exhibitions up to 50% off their standard price. The pass, coordinated by the charity Art Fund, aims to connect museums, galleries, art and creativity with people, with a range of benefits afforded to those who hold one of their cards, providing them with a year of reduced or free access to sites across the country.
Available to full-time U.K. students, the Student Art Pass gets holders access to a variety of exhibitions and museums, but also gives them access to a variety of paid opportunities and competitions, allowing holders to shape the future of the U.K. creative industries, and find their places within it. It is also a good opportunity to network with thousands of other like-minded students from across the nation.
Art Fund, the charity behind the Student Art Pass, was founded in 1903 and has played an instrumental role in bringing creativity and people together, allowing the public access to key exhibitions at reduced rates, and aiding museums in their efforts to build collections and maintain an accessible space for all. Believing in the cruciality of the arts to society, the charity aims to simultaneously fund art, build audiences and amplify the museum sector, so often left out of decision-makers’ minds.
With over 850 locations around the country to use Art Fund’s passes, there is plenty to get involved with and locations to try. In our ‘North’ region alone, there are almost 60 different locations which are free-to-access for pass holders, including the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum in Middlesborough, Fairfax House in York, Manchester’s National Football Museum and 2014’s Museum of the Year Wakefield’s Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Being valid across the nation however, you will have access to a wide variety of cultural locations, wherever you find yourself in the U.K.
From Aberdeen to Aberystwyth, Belfast to Bristol and Leeds to London, the Art Fund Student Art Pass is a fantastic opportunity to access hundreds of cultural exhibitions across the country, without price remain a barrier. With applications closing before the end of the year, now is the chance to claim a Student Art Pass and take hold of the myriad opportunities it affords, without breaking the bank!
