The Sheffield University Performing Arts Society (SUPAS) have unveiled their 2024/25 committee members, to take over from their current leadership. Their AGM, which was held earlier this week on April 15th, saw new and returning faces elected to the leadership ahead of their final show of the current year.
SUPAS is a musical theatre society that performs two full-length musicals and an additional special every year. This year, their shows have consisted of Songs for a New World, The Addams Family and their upcoming end-of-year musical Made in Dagenham, each one building upon the work of their previous production. Being staged from next week, SUPAS’ final production is a much anticipated return from the society since their last show in December.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are an annual event in each society’s calendar, when constitution changes are voted on and new committee members are elected. Should roles remain outstanding following an AGM, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) can be scheduled to fill remaining roles. Each society has four core roles, namely President, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare & Inclusions Officer, which must be filled in order for a society to continue activities into the next academic year.
The committee-elect for the 2024/25 academic year is as follows:
- President ~ Eve Catanach (formerly Publicist, preceded by Dylan Phelps)
- Secretary ~ Ben Jowett (preceded by Beth Pugh)
- Treasurer ~ Alfie Cowgill (preceded by Christopher Preston)
- Welfare & Inclusions Officer ~ Orlaith Day (preceded by Abby Lever)
- Show Producer ~ Belle Cook (formerly Social Secretary)
- Social Secretary ~ Stan Smith (preceded by Belle Cook)
