The University of Sheffield’s Drag Society (DragSoc) have announced their committee members for the 2024/25 academic year. In a post on their social media accounts, the society revealed who would be strutting their stuff into 2025 and leading the charge for one of Sheffield’s most well-known student societies.
DragSoc is a student group dedicated to drag performance, with their membership and committee made up of drag artists. Running several drag shows and collaborations each year, their members are often widely known in the university and their events are known for being packed to the point of being sold out. This year, DragSoc have also been nominated for an title at the Activities Awards, with the society hoping to claim Outstanding Charitable Contribution of the Year, for their Valentine’s for Palestine show in February.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are an annual event in each society’s calendar, when constitution changes are voted on and new committee members are elected. Should roles remain outstanding following an AGM, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) can be scheduled to fill remaining roles. Each society has four core roles, namely President, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare & Inclusions Officer, which must be filled in order for a society to continue activities into the next academic year.
