The University of Sheffield Dance Society have revealed their 2024/25 committee members, in an announcement on the group’s social media yesterday afternoon. Following an AGM held earlier this year, the next incarnation of the society’s committee features a range of returning faces, with seven returning committee members, most of which shuffled into new roles, as well as new faces to the society leadership.

The Sheffield Dance Society are a student group focused predominantly on dance classes and competition events, running the annual Sheffield Dance Competition, with entrants from groups across the country. The group also runs workshops, and take their performances on tour, this year going to Lloret de Mar in Spain.

Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are an annual event in each society’s calendar, when constitution changes are voted on and new committee members are elected. Should roles remain outstanding following an AGM, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) can be scheduled to fill remaining roles. Each society has four core roles, namely President, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare & Inclusions Officer, which must be filled in order for a society to continue activities into the next academic year.

The committee-elect for the 2024/25 academic year is as follows:

    • Co-President ~ Aoife Clarke (preceded by Bella Crolla)
    • Co-President ~ Rachel Ellis (preceded by Maisie Shearing)
    • Co-Secretary ~ Hannah Will (preceded by Aoife Clarke)
