Poet’s Corner: All Hallows’ Eve

The air is chill with Autumn’s breeze

The floor scattered with Autumn leaves

Children costumed head to feet

Eyes and grins wide asking Trick or Treat?

Candlelight reflecting off the television screen

Ghost faces and frights that will make you Scream.

With jack-o’-lanterns and eerie tales

The spookiness of Hallowe’en prevails.

What began as a celebration of the dead

Celebrates the supernatural instead

Take care of which stories you believe

On All Hallows’ Eve.
