The first Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) production of 2025, Dario Fo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist, have this morning completed their company, with the revelation of their crew members.
Alongside the Production Team and Cast, announced in December, the eleven-member team doubles the previously-announced members, bringing the total company up to 22.
The team will be led by the show’s Production Manager, and SUTCo’s Technical Manager, Autumn Ten Dam (Summoning Morphsuit Gary, Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker).
In their announcement on social media, the show revealed their complement of technical and stage management team, sharing the “wonderful people [who] will be working hard behind the scenes to make our show happen!”.
Stage Managed by SUTCo’s Projects & Workshops Officer Darcey Severne (Summoning Morphsuit Gary, Why We Stay), she will be joined in her department by Deputy Stage Manager Adam Rajczakowski (Summoning Morphsuit Gary, Be More Chill) and Assistant Stage Managers Lilia Harnett and Mason Lugh (Summoning Morphsuit Gary, Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker), who also hold roles as Costume Assistant and Projection Designer, respectively.
Eleanor Bevan has been named as the production’s Lighting Designer and Operator, with SUTCo’s Welfare & Inclusions Officer Sophie Layton (The Importance of Being Earnest, The Rocky Horror Picture Show) designing and operating the production’s soundscape, and Ella Hulford (Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche) as Costume, Hair and Make-Up Designer.
Completing the technical team will be Jamie McCollin (Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker) as Set Designer, Chi Nguyen (Amélie, Swap the Press) as Set Constructor, Rachel Hubbard as General Crew and Will Roebuck as Social Media Manager, a new role for this production.
The technical team consists of new and returning talent to SUTCo, as well as a number of members with credits in both the Sheffield University Performing Arts Society (SUPAS) and University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society (USLES).
Accidental Death of an Anarchist is set to be staged at the end of February at the University of Sheffield Drama Studio, and will be the first SUTCo production of 2025, and the first since Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker in December 2024.
The show is set in a police station following the death of an anarchist in police custody, with a maniac detainee questioning the officers about the circumstances of his passing.
Having first been proposed in 2020 but having to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this incarnation will be SUTCo’s third attempt at platforming the show, and the first successful attempt in SUTCo’s history.
The show joins The Effect, It Came From The Ice, Twelfth Night and SUTCo’s Fringe production Peace Circle in their semester two programme, to be staged across Sheffield and in Edinburgh.
Supported widely and highly anticipated by many within the SUTCo community, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, with its latest announcement, is the first semester two SUTCo company to be completed.
With the opening night exactly six weeks away, the production is gearing up and getting underway ahead of its four-show run at the beginning of the new semester.
SUTCo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist will be playing at the University of Sheffield Drama Studio from February 26th until March 1st 2025. Tickets are available here
