Born out of the desire to give back to the culture and communities at the heart of Tramlines Festival, the Tramlines Trust increases the festival’s annual fundraising and charitable donations. It also makes it more accessible for grassroots organisations to apply for and receive funding from the Festival. The Trust has given out more than £90,000 worth of grants since 2022, and in 2024 over 50% of total funding went to Hillsborough-based initiatives.
The Tramlines Trust provides grants of up to £500 for charities and grassroots community organisations that provide activities which align with the trust’s 4 pillars:
- Local Community – Project or organisation local to Sheffield that enhances, educates or supports the lives of local communities in the city.
- People and the Planet – Project or organisation that is involved with improving, raising awareness and supporting societal issues such as (but not limited to) the environment, homelessness, physical and mental health.
- Future Generations – Project or organisation that uplifts and engages with young people who would like to gain insight into the events or creative industries to kick start their careers
- South Yorkshire’s Art and Culture – Project or organisation that is heavily involved with and promotes music, arts or Sheffield Culture.
It is not required to be an established or registered organisation to apply – individuals and new organisations are encouraged to do so. 2024’s recipients included The Children’s Hospital Charity, Roundabout, RivelinCo, and many more. Applications will close on Friday 8 August 2025.
