A body has been recovered from the lake in Crookes Valley Park, a popular outdoor space with students, South Yorkshire Police confirmed this morning.
Crookes Valley Park was cordoned off by police last night after emergency services were called following reports of a man who had got into difficulty in the water.
In a statement released this morning, South Yorkshire Police confirmed that emergency services were called to Crookes Valley Park at 7:30 last night, and that the underwater search team recovered a body just before midnight.
Formal identification of the body is yet to take place.
In response to the incident, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have reminded people to be cautious of bodies of open water, which are often more dangerous than they appear.
