Nominations for a new Students’ Union President (Democracy & Community) have officially opened!
All students at the University of Sheffield are eligible to run for this full-time, paid position, which will last from December 2025 to June 2026. The successful candidate will need to take a leave of absence from their studies.
The SU President leads the SU Officer team and serves as the Chair of the SU Trustee Board. Responsibilities include overseeing community events, facilitating democratic processes, liaising with university representatives and external organisations, and amplifying the student voice throughout the city.
This by-election follows the resignation of Daisy Watson, former President, in August. You can find Forge’s exclusive interview with her here.
Several SU Council roles are also open for nomination, including positions for representatives of English, the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Psychology, Apprentices, Representative Societies, Special Interest Societies, Cultural & National Societies, and Working Committees Councillors.
Nominations opened today at 12:00 p.m. and will close on Friday, November 21st, at 12:00 p.m., giving interested candidates just under a week to submit their nominations.
Candidates will be announced on November 24th at 9:00 a.m.
Campaigning and voting will conclude on November 27th.
A results night will be held at Coffee Revs on November 28th to announce and celebrate the winners.
