The University of Sheffield Creative Writing Society have announced their 2024/25 committee members on their social media. Following a recent EGMs and changes to the committee structure, the society shared their full new committee, as well as what each of them enjoys writing about the most, to help familiarise new members.
The Creative Writing Society is a writing group which meet weekly during term times to create exciting stories and other works of fiction. Publishing members’ contributions in an online magazine and anthology, the group allows students from courses across the university to come together and express themselves through language, and build community in the process.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are an annual event in each society’s calendar, when constitution changes are voted on and new committee members are elected. Should roles remain outstanding following an AGM, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) can be scheduled to fill remaining roles. Each society has four core roles, namely President, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare & Inclusions Officer, which must be filled in order for a society to continue activities into the next academic year.
The committee-elect for the 2024/25 academic year is as follows:
- President ~ Holly Thorpe
- Secretary ~ Eden Holgeth
- Treasurer ~ Emma Spruce
- Welfare & Inclusions Officer ~ Katie Joslin
- Social Secretary ~ Ananditha Sunil
- Publicity Officer ~ Isabel Miller
