Protesters have occupied the Diamond today against companies supplying arms being connected with the University of Sheffield.

A staff member outside the building, which is closed for the day, said they are protesting Rolls-Royce’s role in supplying arms.

A tweet from Sheffield Action group also names BAE and Boeing as companies being protested against.

Rolls-Royce has two University Technology Centres and a “long-standing relationship” with the university. See here for details: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/acse/research/centres/rolls-royce

Around 5-10 protesters can be seen from outside the building, and have hung up a banner saying “Rolls Royce Off Campus”.

The Diamond is currently closed, and expected to remain shut today.

Students should contact their lecturers for information about rearranged sessions.
