The University of Sheffield Drag Society (DragSoc) have announced their next and final show of 2024, a mere four days after their previous, Fantasy! Played in Bar One’s Raynor Lounge.
The LGBTQ+ performance group took to social media earlier this week to announce the upcoming Christmas-themed event, which will take place on December 17th, the final Tuesday of the academic calendar in 2024 before the winter break.
With an Instagram post featuring committee members as snowmen, the performance society revealed their next production, urging viewers, fans and audiences alike to “JOIN [THEM] on the 17th for a festive little frolick […] we love doing these Christmas shows so we hope to see you there”.
Ticket prices for this show are also 40% less than their previous Fantasty! production, at £3 per audience member, helping to further entice undecided potential viewers.
The Drag Society is one of the most well-known societies at the university, inviting members to experience and enjoy the art of drag and performing in a safe and inclusive environment.
Running in the Students’ Union since 2018, the society was nominated in 2024 for Outstanding Charitable Contribution of the Year for their Valentines for Palestine show at the annual Activities Awards, as well as taking part in the annual LGBTQ+ collaboration to create a charity shadow cast screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, alongside the Horror Society, Showroom Cinema and the former LGBTQ+ Representative Committee, before its removal.
This latest show will mark the third of the 2024/25 academic year for the society, in as many months, bringing together their eclectic diversity of performers, as well as possible new members taking to the stage in a few weeks time.
Open to participants of all genders and none, and those with all levels of experience of drag, DragSoc are a unique performance group for those seeking to try something a little different to many of the other performance societies on offer at the university.
Regardless of which members will be taking to the stage, the latest show from DragSoc will be gearing up to end their successful year on a high, with one final performance to wrap up 2024.
