Enough is Enough: Protest in Sheffield for national day of action

Hundreds of people have gathered to protest today as a result of the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Protesters assembled on Devonshire Green this morning, and at around 12:30pm, marched to Sheffield City Hall for a rally which is taking place now.

It is one of more than fifty protests taking place across the country today as part of Enough is Enough’s national day of action.

Some protesters carry signs with phrases including “eat the rich”, “we don’t trust you”, and “this is class war, and we will win”.

Enough is Enough is demanding a minimum wage rise, lower energy bills by returning to the pre-April energy price cap, an end to food poverty, decent homes for all, and more taxes on the rich.

It was founded by trade unions and community organisations, and is supported by groups including CWU, RMT, and Fans Supporting Foodbanks, along with Zarah Sultana MP.

Postal workers, local branches of the National Education Union, Rotherham TUC and a number of other labour rights groups are present.
