The Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) have announced their final set of auditions for productions in the 2024/25 academic year.
Taking place next week, the auditions for the Shakespeare in the Park: Twelfth Night production follow last week’s auditions for the group’s Edinburgh Fringe production, Peace Circle.
This is the final opportunity to gain an acting role with SUTCo until September.
In the production’s first announcement yesterday, the performance group revealed the audition information, as well as sharing the plot of Shakespeare’s classic, saying that they “can’t wait to see you there!”.
Shakespeare in the Park is SUTCo’s annual charity production, staged in Crookes Valley Park, in May.
It is the final regular production staged by the group, and usually marks the final SUTCo show of the academic year.
SUTCo’s incarnation of Twelfth Night will follow twins Viola and Sebastian, separated after a shipwreck, and Viola’s attempts to pass as a male in Duke Orsino’s court, with her romantic allure causing trouble for all around her.
Twelfth Night was selected as this year’s Shakespeare in the Park production, beating both The Tempest and A Comedy of Errors in a ballot of SUTCo members.
It will follow last year’s production of As You Like It, starring Tilly Harradine (The Effect, Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker) and Emilia Lodge (The Effect, The Importance of Being Earnest).
Whilst the team behind the production have not yet been revealed, the process of selecting them has been completed, following an application period last month.
As the days get warmer and the sun comes out, all eyes are now turning to SUTCo’s final set of auditions for 2024/25 next week; the final chance to join a SUTCo cast until September.
With subsequent tech calls expected to follow the casting process, the time to become part of SUTCo in 2024/25 is rapidly closing, with hopeful thespians urged to put themselves forward.
Less than one week until auditions begin, the latest SUTCo production has officially begun its journey, and now seeks a company to make it happen.
