The University of Sheffield has reopened its Goodwin Sports Centre gym after £850,000 redevelopment and partnership with gym equipment company.
The newly refurbished gym officially opened on Wednesday 22 November.
Andy Cox, Director of Sport and Physical Activity, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome everyone back to our newly refurbished Gym facilities at Goodwin Sports Centre.
“First of all, I want to thank all of our loyal customers for their patience over the summer and also a big thank you to our staff team who have been working on this project for over a year.
“We very much hope the gym space will continue to be a place that brings people together from all areas of our University, inspiring people to feel connected and enabling everyone to get involved in physical activity.”
During the ongoing maintenance, members have been able to use our temporary gym facilities.
The gym features brand-new equipment from Technogym, alongside improved air handling and lighting. A full list of gym equipment can be found here.
The University say they partnered with Technogym to “create a revised gym layout with state-of-the-art equipment, allowing the user to experience a more seamless workout”.
Mr Cox also said: “We hope this will be the start of further investments that will enable us to place sport and physical activity as the heartbeat of an active black and gold University Community.”
Goodwin’s swimming pool still remains shut after originally closing its doors over safety concerns.
