Enjoy the Outdoors
Outdoor activities enhance our mental health. With hotter weather on the horizon, it’s time to take advantage of your green surroundings. As the colder months have dragged on this year, we’ve clung to cafes and our own homes for warmth. Now that the weather is improving and daylight sticks around longer, it’s your chance to spend more time outside, go for walks in your local park, and plan picnics and park runs.
Productivity
Another good habit to adopt for the spring months is waking up earlier as you can use the opportunity to go outside and feel the sun on your face. Making use of early mornings with the sun shining is the best thing you can do for your mental health because it’s the beginning of the day, and the possibilities seem endless. You will most certainly feel the urge to be productive. Now, the tricky part is sustaining this feeling of productivity. We can get easily distracted by our phones and doom scrolling or get overwhelmed with our tasks and end up doing nothing. This is why it’s best to start the day with writing down a To Do list of things you hope to achieve. This guides you to complete at least some or most of the tasks on your list throughout the day. It’s also better to physically write them down with a pen and paper because you actively register it in your brain.
Creating evening routines with self-care
Creating a balanced evening routine can help you to make self-care a priority. Structuring your day around studies, work, exercise and social activities can often leave self-care on the back burner. We often say we don’t have enough time in the day to actually do things for ourselves. This is why you must make self-care a priority for yourself if you are to fit it into your busy schedule. It can often be easier to structure it into an evening routine after you have completed your tasks for the day. Self-care can mean something different to everyone. It can be taking the time to read a book, listen to a podcast, having a nice relaxing bath or listening to music before going to bed. Many people have agreed how therapeutic and peaceful these small changes can make you feel before bed.
So, enjoy the sunnier weather, and prioritise time for yourself because the warmer days are here to stay.
