Nominations open for Students’ Union elections

Nominations have officially opened for candidates in the Students’ Union (SU) elections. 

Sheffield students interested in working in one of the SU’s thirteen leadership roles next year have until the 16th February to put their name’s forward. 

Seven of these are full-time positions, for which you would receive a salary above £22,000, these are:

  • SU president
  • Activities and development officer
  • Liberation Officer
  • Education officer
  • Welfare and Sustainability Officer
  • Well-being and Sports officer
  • International and Community Officer.

The six part-time positions are officer roles representing:

  • Women students
  • Postgraduates
  • Mature students
  • BAME students
  • Disabled students
  • LGBT+ students 

After nominations close, candidates will be announced on the 28th February and campaigning will begin.

There will be a three-day voting period from the 4th-7th March, with the results announced on the 8th.

The SU stresses that no experience is required to apply for one of these roles, as full training will be provided for all successful candidates.

All students are eligible to vote and stand in these elections.

Last year’s edition saw 6,860 students use their vote, with a turnout of 21%.
