Chris Wilder and Sheffield United play host to Carlo Ancelotti and Everton tomorrow in both side’s penultimate Premier League fixture of the campaign.
The Blades are looking to bounce back to form after their poor outing against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.
After the thoroughly disappointing 2-0 defeat, Sheffield struggled to create any clear cut opportunities to score and will be looking to get back into attacking form against an Everton defence that hasn’t been too strong this year.
For the Toffees, their draw against relegation-threatened Aston Villa didn’t really resemble the performance that Ancelotti’s men put in. Ex-Gunner Theo Walcott scored with three minutes to go saved the side a point which many, including some Everton fans, didn’t think they deserved.
Team News
United manager Chris Wilder bashed the squad after their defeat on Thursday and will likely be making changes. John Fleck was subbed on at half-time in Wilder’s three-change gamble to try and give the Blades some energy, but could well start for the first time since his injury.
Ancelotti confirmed recently that Fabian Delph, Yerri Mina and Jason Holgate will miss the final two games of the season.
Previous Meetings
The last meeting in September saw the Blades grab their first away win in the Premier League against what was Marco Silva’s Everton team at that point.
A Mina own-goal and a Lys Mousset goal off the bench culminated to a 2-0 result that saw Sheffield United leapfrog Everton into eighth at the time.
Ones to Watch
Whilst no one in the Everton side was outstanding on Thursday, defender Lucas Digne put in a solid showing. The Frenchman has been performing well this season, prompting many to predict a summer move to a bigger club.
He’ll be looking to contain the Sheffield United full-backs when they bomb forward to provide service to the two strikers, as well as offer attacking options and help Everton create something out wide.
