Who knew an arts festival required getting lost amongst Edinburgh’s cobblestones every five seconds? Well, I do now. Edinburgh is a busier, bigger version of Sheffield: hilly side streets that are supposed to lead you to one show venue, until you realise you’re completely lost and have to scramble to the right place in a matter of minutes. This is exactly what my week at Edinburgh Fringe as a reviewer was like. It was the most amazing week, and the opportunity to receive press accreditation and write up reviews for a wide range of musical performances, theatre and stand up was like no other. I discovered so much emerging talent (and some where using the word talent may be an overstatement) but overall gained so many skills over just one week. Because I know you’re eager to know: running from one side to the other of the royal mile in a matter of minutes is a skill I will be continuing to work on for years to come.
