The team behind the latest Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) production It Came From the Ice, which opens next week at the Library Theatre, have released more information about their company, including their crew members, ahead of their run.
The play, written by SUTCo member and University of Sheffield medical student Luke Hookham, will debut with a 16-member company on Wednesday April 2nd.
This will be the group’s first play in the venue since last semester’s The Importance of Being Earnest.
Revealing the full company on social media yesterday afternoon, the production’s technical team consists of seven members, consisting predominantly of experienced SUTCo members.
Under the lead of Production Manager Phil Saxby, the team are tasked with all technical and stage management-related elements of the production.
Autumn Ten Dam (Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker) joins their fourth SUTCo production of the year as Stage Manager, alongside Jamie McCollin (Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker) as Deputy Stage Manager.
Besides set, the production’s stage management team is the only department consisting of multiple team members, due to the unique nature of each of their roles.
Both Louis Josa (The Importance of Being Earnest) and Lucy Davies (The Effect) are tasked with set design, the second SUTCo production each has joined.
The set, an integral part of the production, sees the two working together for the first time, and for Josa, his first technical role with the group, having previously played Dr Chasuble in The Importance of Being Earnest.
For Davies, this role is her first in the set department, having worked as Assistant Stage Manager on The Effect several weeks previously.
Ayda Ev joins the company in costume, marking her first SUTCo role and the only debut role in the entire It Came From the Ice cast, crew and production team.

Completing the technical team are Mason Lugh (The Effect, Accidental Death of an Anarchist) in sound, and Adam Rajczakowski (Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Summoning Morphsuit Gary) on lighting.
Both have extensive experience both within SUTCo and the University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society (USLES).
It Came From the Ice is the third original play platformed by SUTCo this academic year, following most recently Andrew Hurrell’s Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker in December.
The plot revolves around a team of Antarctic researchers who miraculously survive a storm by rediscovering their research base, only to learn that something has followed the team back to safety.
The play is the third platformed by the theatre company this semester, following The Effect and Accidental Death of an Anarchist, both playing in the past month at the University of Sheffield Drama Studio.
With the play’s company now complete, the final countdown to opening night is well and truly underway, only eight days out from opening night.
The crew now announced, preparations are nearing their end as SUTCo prepares to take to the stage for their next performance.
SUTCo’s It Came From the Ice will be playing at the Library Theatre from April 2nd until April 4th. Tickets are available here
