Sheffield Eagles have named their 21-man squad ahead of an RFL Championship fixture against Featherstone Rovers.
The Eagles currently sit in seventh-place, while Featherstone are ahead on points difference – meaning this could be a game that decides who makes the play-off spots come the end of the campaign.
It’s as tight as it is due to a surprise defeat for Rovers against Swinton Lions last week, causing head coach James Ford to say they need to “address [their] mentality”.
However, even winning the Grand Final would not result in promotion to Super League, thanks to the RFL and IMG’s reforms this year.
Three changes have been made to the initial 21-man squad from the one that was named last week, with half-backs Anthony Thackeray and Jack Hansen, as well as forward Connor Bower, entering the squad.
They replace half-back Izaac Farrell, second-rower Alex Foster and winger Ryan Millar.
This squad features all of their players with squad numbers 1-13, and puts them in a good position going into this game.
The game is at Featherstone Rovers’ Millennium Stadium at 3pm, on Sunday 15th September.
The Sheffield Eagles squad named is as follows:
1 Matty Marsh
2 Ben Jones-Bishop
3 Kris Welham
4 James Glover
5 Matty Dawson-Jones
6 Cory Aston
7 Anthony Thackeray
8 Eddie Battye
9 Vila Halafihi
10 Tyler Dickinson
11 Connor Bower
12 Joel Farrell
13 Titus Gwaze
14 Jack Hansen
15 Evan Hodgson
16 Blake Broadbent
17 Mitch Clark
18 Aaron Murphy
22 Kyle Wood
24 Oliver Roberts
27 Jesse Sene-Lefao
