The Sheffield music festival, Tramlines, has cancelled its 2020 edition in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Tramlines was set to take Hillsborough Park by storm from 24-26 July for the third year in a row, but due to the health crisis ongoing, the organisers have been left with no choice but to move the festival to next year.
A rearranged festival will now take place in 2021, from 23-25 July, and all tickets and upgrades which have been purchased for this year’s edition will be automatically transferred, although refunds will be available.

Tramlines’ move to Hillsborough Park in 2017 has been a resounding success, as it united the festival on one site, and this year’s festival was set to be headlined by former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Madness.
“Firstly, we want to share a heartfelt thank you from the whole team for your patience and messages of support while we work through this difficult situation, it really does mean the world to us,” a statement from ‘Tramlines HQ’ read.
“We’d also like to take this opportunity to offer our thanks for the continued dedication and hard work of all the NHS teams, key workers and volunteers in trying to combat this horrible pandemic.
“We would like to assure you that we have delved into all possible options to try and make this year’s Tramlines possible. However, unfortunately, after a full review with the relevant local authorities; and in the best interests and safety of our festival-goers, artists, staff, suppliers and the emergency services; we are truly sorry and heartbroken to confirm that Tramlines Festival will not be able to take place this year.
“Looking forward, Tramlines will now take place on the 23rd-25th July 2021.
“We would like to thank you once again for continuing to support Tramlines and want to assure you we’re now putting everything into planning the best festival ever. Tramlines would be absolutely nothing without you and we can’t wait to see you in July 2021.
“For now, keep safe, keep healthy and look after each other.”
Tramlines also said that they are working with ticketing partners, and they’ll be in touch within seven days in terms of refunds for tickets for this year’s festival.
Around 35,000 people have been expected to attend the festival, which will now take place after a 12-month delay.
