Words on the Page
There are so many words in the English language,
And yet I rarely find an excuse to use the best ones,
But now that I’ve met you,
I have reason to use all these words,
And each one I use is perfectly true,
The word statuesque is one I could use,
It describes your figure,
The graceful way you are,
And how you stand tall
Never looking like you’d lose.
I can describe you as indulgent,
When you present me with gifts,
And you treat me so kindly,
And how I sink into your skin
Every time we kiss.
I’d always call you scintillating,
Which describes the way your mind works,
In such a clever way,
And it creates these stories,
All of which I look forward to hearing every single day.
You’re more than just amusing,
You’re sensationally electrifying,
And when we go out together,
I can’t stop smiling,
You nudge me into happiness,
And the world fades away.
When I have used up all the words
That we have in our language,
And I have nothing left to say,
I’ll learn another,
Just so you know
That your presence is more welcome
Than the first warmth of summer,
And how pretty you look in the daylight,
And how falling into your arms is
My favourite delight,
But out of all the words I know,
Out of all the languages I’ve learnt,
One of the best ones is your name,
Because to me,
That means bliss
And joy,
Beauty,
And tenderness,
And no other word
Will ever reach such fame.
