Thousands of happy ticket holders after the Sheffield City Council confirm that the sold-out Tramlines Festival will go ahead as planned.
The city’s annual Tramlines Festival will be taking place from July 23rd to July 25th, just a few days after the new ‘Freedom Day’ on July 21st.
Aside from a ticket, visitors will also need to show proof that they have received two doses of the vaccine at least two weeks before or a negative Covid lateral flow test from the previous 48 hours.
Tramlines Operation Director, Timm Cleasby, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to confirm that Tramlines 2021 is going ahead.”
Tramlines Festival is taking part in the governments Events Research Programme, and has a framework to follow, where past events have suggested that festivals can be enjoyed at no higher risk than other activities.
He added: “Once inside, there will be no need for social distancing and no one will have to wear a mask if they don’t want to.”
The festival will be taking place at full capacity of 40,000 ticket holders and is set to be headlined by The Streets, Royal Blood and Richard Ashcroft.
Greg Fell, Sheffield Director of Public Health, said: “Helping cultural events to be staged safely is an essential part of our return to life where we can freely enjoy the things we love, and the findings so far have shown positive outcomes that allow us to take these next steps towards normality.
“We’re working closely with the DCMS and the Tramlines team to support this milestone event for the city and our music fans. My advice to ticket holders is get your vaccines, and as hard as it might be, if you’ve got symptoms please stay at home.”
However, ticket holders who no longer want to go to the festival can receive a refund for the tickets at face value or use their ticket for the following year for no extra cost.
