Students affected by Israel/Gaza conflict offered support by University

The University has told students affected by the conflict between Israel and Palestine that “we are here to help”.

The latest development in seven decades of near-constant war began on the 7th October, when Hamas launched an attack of unprecedented scale into Israeli territory.

Since then the Israeli government has begun a large-scale assault of their own upon Gaza, the Palestinian territory that has been governed by Hamas since 2006.

University guidance, posted on their website shortly after fighting began, advises that: “If the Israel Gaza conflict is having an impact on your ability to engage with your studies, please reach out to your academic department who can advise and support you.”

“We understand that even if you are not directly affected, you may be feeling anxious or worried. We encourage you to seek support from whichever service or services you feel are most appropriate.”

Suggested support services include the Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service and the Faculty Wellbeing Advisors.

All University support information can be found on the student hub, accessed using your student login.
