Students’ Union Officer candidates to be announced on Monday

The candidates for this year’s Sheffield Students’ Union officer elections are to be announced on Monday.

There are six full-time officer roles up for election, as well as two elected student trustee roles.

Following restructuring, there are changes to some roles this year, with the roles of President, Education Officer and Wellbeing & Sport Officer remaining unchanged.

There are three new positions – Liberation & Activities Officer, Sustainability & Development Officer, and International & Welfare Officer.

These replace the previous roles of Activities & Development Officer, International & Community Officer, Welfare & Sustainability Officer and Liberation & Inclusions Officer.

In a change to previous years, there will be no part-time officer elections as these roles were also removed during the restructuring process.

Instead, ‘Liberation Facilitators’ will be appointed, with applications set to open later in the year.

Successful officer candidates will take up their roles in July 2025, with terms lasting until June 2026.

Voting opens on Wednesday 19 March and is open until 10:00pm on Thursday 20 March.
