Rose Franchi has been elected as the Students’ Union Activities and Development officer, after six rounds of vote counting.
Franchi will take over from outgoing officer, Morgan McArthur, who is also a returning officer in this years elections.
On stage this evening, she said: “This week has been so hectic and I’m so honoured to have been campaigning alongside the other candidates”, “I’m really looking forward to the year ahead”
Franchi took victory by 77 votes over runner up Alice Jackson. The final standings saw Franchi take 861 total votes after leading almost every round.
Franchi ran her campaign based on three key areas: to increase student engagement with societies, developing easy systems for communication between societies and SU officers and providing support for committee members. She has also emphasised that her policies will focus on creating an inclusive and accessible environment within societies, particularly for postgraduate and mature students.
