Dhyasa Morgan has been elected as the BAME Students part-time officer

She will take over from the current officer Blair Jamila when her term ends at the end of this academic year.

After hearing the result, she said: “I’m really grateful to be up for this role and to be in a position to share the goals and views of people in minority positions.”

Morgan was elected based on a campaign about recognising BAME students’ experiences, especially around discrimination, and creating an environment for students to share their stories.

She won the election in the first round of voting against Saad Mahtar, the only other candidate for the position.
