SU Elections: Laura Edwards voted in as Disabled Students’ PTO

Laura Edwards (she/her) has been elected as the new Disabled Students’ Part-time Officer.

On stage, she said: “I’m very grateful to be here. I’m excited to work with everyone to make their time as successful as possible, as I know it can be difficult. I’m here to make your time at university better.”

Her aims include improving the Learning Support Plans system, building connections between disabled students through relaxed sessions which she envisions could include pet therapy and sensory-friendly meet-ups, making lectures more accessible, and providing workshops on navigating life post-graduation.

Before the voting period opened, she told Forge Press: “I just want to help. I just want to help people, I just want to be a friendly face people can come to and get some help.”
