Jamie Shipp has been elected Sheffield Students’ Union LGBT+ Part-Time Officer for the 2022/23 academic year.
Shipp, who passed the 261.00 vote cut-off in the first round of counting, will replace current LGBT+ Officer Phob Unsworth when their term ends in June.
Speaking on stage at the results event, Shipp said: “I feel great, thank you to all my team, thank you to everyone who voted”.
Shipp totalled 305 first place votes to claim a landslide victory on Thursday night.
His campaign focussed on improving inclusivity and safety for current a future LGBT+ students in Sheffield. There was also mention of working with the University to improve LGBT+ access to exercise facilities, including more frequent LGBT+ gym sessions and transgender-inclusive swim sessions.
The election finished with Hannah Dudas and Callum Booth in second and third place respectively.
