The next stage of headhunting for the upcoming production of Into the Woods by the Sheffield University Performing Arts Society (SUPAS) has begun.
Following previous calls for members of the technical team, the musical theatre performance group are now seeking applicants for Assistant Production Team roles in their final company of 2024/25.
The society have also reopened applications for Costume Designer on the production’s Senior Technical Team.
A social media announcement earlier today proclaimed that “applications for assistant prod team roles are open!”, and inviting those interested to “DM or email supas@sheffield.ac.uk for any questions”.
Today’s announcement opens up an additional three roles in the production’s company, namely Assistant Choreographer, Assistant Director and Assistant Musical Director, for members’ applications.
Each is tasked with aiding their corresponding member on the Production Team, the members of which were announced last month.
It is hoped that these roles may serve as a method to develop and learn new skills, which may lead to successful applicants wishing to join a Production Team for future shows.
This comes just hours after the group also announced that they are seeking a Costume Designer for Into the Woods’ Senior Tech Team.
However, potential applicants have not been given much time to dawdle, with applications for Assistant Production Team, and Costume Designer, closing on February 6th and 7th, respectively.
This is to allow for applicants to be ‘onboarded’ with members of the Production Team before auditions, scheduled to take place on February 10th, 11th, 13th.
These tech calls, and auditions, will likely be the final chance to join a SUPAS show this academic year, with Into the Woods being the group’s final production before November.
As students begin to finish their final exams and emerge from their winter slumber, SUPAS are hitting the ground running, with technical applications closing before the semester begins, and auditions in the first week.
For potential SUPAS members or returning faces, these final opportunities to join the production will be highly sought after, with the society keen to begin work as soon as possible.
