The Sheffield University Performing Arts Society (SUPAS) have opened the final section of their Into the Woods tech call.

Looking to recruit the last members of their tech team ahead of the show’s run in May, the latest tech call looks for junior members of the backstage company, after previously recruiting senior figures earlier this year.

The team will be led by Production Manager Matt King.

Taking to social media yesterday, the musical theatre group announced the opening of applications, bidding members to “check out [their] Linktree for the application form and a full application pack!”

The latest tech call opens up seven roles to prospective crew members, with at least one in each major department.

The available roles include Assistant Stage Manager, Lighting Assistant, Followspot Operator, Sound Assistant, Set Constructor, Costume Assistant, and Hair and Make-Up Assistant.

Each role will place new applicants among previously-determined members of the technical team, completing the Into the Woods company.

The Sheffield University Performing Arts Society are one of the university’s three main performance societies, alongside the Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) and University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society (USLES).

Into the Woods is the group’s final musical of the 2024/25 academic year, following Be More Chill and Amélie, staged last semester.

This production will be the first time since 2018 that the group have performed the classic musical.

With only two months remaining until SUPAS take to the stage for the final time this academic year, this tech call is the final opportunity for students to gain a role in a SUPAS production until November, with SUPAS’ first musical of 2025/26.

With applications open until March 9th, time is running out for interested technical team members to join the latest SUPAS production.
