The final Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) standard production, week eight’s It Came From the Ice, has announced their cast.
Completing the SUTCo semester two lineup, with the exception of the Shakespeare in the Park production in week 11, the original play by Writer and Director Luke Hookham (The Importance of Being Earnest, The Shivers) will be staged at an as-of-yet undecided venue, set to be announced in the coming weeks.
Alongside Assistant Director and Co-Producer Darcey Severne (Summoning Morphsuit Gary, The Shivers), Co-Producer Heather Ellis and Production Manager Phil Saxby, the production team’s announcement completes the casts set to be announced, with both Accidental Death of an Anarchist and The Effect having made their announcements recently.
In a post shared to social media yesterday, the production revealed their cast members, as well as opening their assistant tech call, following their designer tech call which was closed several weeks ago.
At the time the production is staged, all cast members would have previously starred in a SUTCo production.
Leading the show as Paul is Imogen Kerr (Margaret Beaufort: Kingmaker, Your Heart’s Too Open, Close It), most recently playing Lord Thomas Stanley before the winter break.
Alongside her as Sarah is Immy Eyre (Medea, Hedda Gabler), as well as Alex Mackie as Charlie, following their SUTCo debut earlier this academic year as Lane/Merriman in The Importance of Being Earnest.
Completing the cast are Barbara McLaughlin (The Shivers, Chosen Ones) and Sam Bevan as Angela and Gary, respectively, both notably cast in the week three production of Accidental Death of an Anarchist, in addition to their role in It Came From the Ice.

It Came From the Ice, an original script, follows five researchers in an Antarctic base who must contend with an unknown force, driving them closer to fear and insanity.
A cosmic horror-themed production, the show will be staged in the final week before the Easter vacation period, with a venue yet to be decided.
Alongside its cast, the production has sought to complete its company through its final tech call, opening applications for a variety of roles.
Including Deputy and Assistant Stage Managers, Lighting, Sound, Costume and Set Assistants, a Makeup and Visual Effects Designer, and General Crew, applicants will join the designer team, whom have already been selected, but not yet revealed.

As one of SUTCo’s Alternate Venue Performances (AVPs), the show is set to be staged in a venue other than the University of Sheffield Drama Studio, in a long-held tradition of SUTCo using other local venues.
Previous SUTCo AVPs have included autumn 2024’s The Importance of Being Earnest (staged at the Library Theatre), autumn 2023’s Lights over Tesco Carpark (Raynor Lounge) and spring 2023’s Hedda Gabler (The Lantern).
With all three determined SUTCo casts now announced, all eyes turn to their respective tech teams, as well as the eagerly-anticipated announcement of auditions for Shakespeare in the Park: Twelfth Night and Peace Circle, SUTCo’s Edinburgh Fringe production.
As casts begin to learn their lines and begin rehearsals, there is less than two months until all casts take to the stage and SUTCo stages its latest creations.
SUTCo’s It Came From the Ice will be playing in Week Eight of the second semester, in April 2025. Applications to join the production’s technical team are available here
