The ground-breaking West End musical The Little Big Things will be available to stream online later this year. The new musical, which played at London’s @sohoplace from September 2023 to March 2024, is among a group of productions making their way to the National Theatre at Home streaming service.
Announced in a video released by the National Theatre yesterday, The Little Big Things will be arriving on the streaming platform later this year, just weeks after its closing night in the West End, and nomination for three Olivier awards. The story, an adaptation of the memoir by Henry Fraser, retells Fraser’s life since experiencing a life-changing injury whilst on holiday, and how he and those around him had to adapt to the situation, and the associated challenges with gaining a disability.
As well as The Little Big Things, other shows have been announced for release onto the streaming service, including Constellations, with cast members from multiple productions including Peter Capaldi and Chris O’Dowd, Dear Octopus by Dodie Smith and revived by Emily Burns, and Underdog, a retelling of the life of the Brontë sisters, among others.
Whilst the exact release dates for these shows have not been revealed, the inclusion of The Little Big Things professional recording is an exciting revelation, especially given the show’s huge success and limitations with its touring prospects. We can only anticipate when exactly these productions will be available to stream, but this announcement is likely to be welcomed universally, and will pave the way for more audiences to engage with these particular productions across the world, and may hopefully spur additional conversations about theatrical accessibility.
The Little Big Things and other productions will be available to stream on National Theatre at Home later this spring and summer
