The professional recording of the West End musical The Little Big Things will be streaming from May 9th on the National Theatre at Home streaming service. Following last month’s announcement that the show would be available to stream, it was revealed earlier today that from next month the recording, with captions, audio description and British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation options will be coming next month to the theatrical service.
Director Luke Sheppard has said “We’re thrilled to extend the reach of The Little Big Things through the National Theatre at Home streaming platform. Accessibility lies at the centre of this production, and now through this release, a whole new audience can access and experience the power of Henry Fraser’s remarkable story.”
The musical, which played for a limited run from September to March in London’s newest West End theatre @sohoplace, tells the remarkable true story of mouth artist Henry Fraser, who was paralysed on a holiday with his brothers. The winner of the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Casting Direction was nominated for four WhatsOnStage Awards, and is hoping to win its three nominations at the Olivier Awards this weekend, including Best New Musical, Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Amy Trigg, playing physiotherapist Agnes.
With the musical receiving widespread praise for its accessibility, storytelling and inclusion of cast members with a range of disabilities, this announcement is an important step in helping this musical to reach audiences worldwide. As the date for its release approaches, we’re all in anticipation for the story that has touched so many to be brought back, and into our homes.
