The Sheffield University Performing Arts Society (SUPAS) have announced three new committee members joining their ranks.

The three, two of whom will be appearing in upcoming productions Be More Chill and Amélie, will join their previously-elected peers until the society AGM season in April, and will be tasked with overseeing upcoming productions.

In a social media post earlier this week, the performance society celebrated their new members, as well as promising “[their] workshop series in Semester 2, as well as hosting dedicated groups for first year and outreach students!”.

The new members include Nancy Rutter as Workshops Officer, Rory Violet as Outreach Officer, and Izzy Woolcott as First Year Rep.

Both Violet and Woolcott will be appearing in upcoming SUPAS shows, with the former appearing as Goldfish/Tourist/Gnome in Amélie and the latter as Jenna Rolan in Be More Chill.

The SUPAS committee now consists of twelve members.

The Sheffield University Performing Arts Society is one of three major theatrical societies at the university, alongside SUTCo and USLES, and focuses predominantly on platforming musical theatre productions.

Their previous productions include Made in Dagenham and The Addams Family, with their first show of the 2024/25 academic year, Be More Chill, opening this week at the University of Sheffield Drama Studio.

The newest members join the SUPAS committee at an exciting time, with a show opening this week and recent voting for next semester’s musical all in progress.

With five months left of their terms, the newest SUPAS committee members will be beginning to settle into their roles tonight, ready to improve the society for its musical members.

The 2024/25 SUPAS committee is as follows:

    • President ~ Eve Catanach
    • Secretary ~ Ben Jowett
    • Treasurer ~ Alfie Cowgill
    • Welfare & Inclusions Officer ~ Orlaith Day
    • Show Producer ~ Belle Cook
    • Social Secretary ~ Stan Smith
    • Digital Publicist ~ Liv Slater
    • Publicist ~ Katie Weller
    • Technical Co-ordinator ~ Siân Beddows
    • Workshops Officer ~ Nancy Rutter
    • Outreach Officer ~ Rory Violet
    • First Year Rep ~ Izzy Woolcott
