Lou Lou’s Vintage Market is being held on Saturday 28th September from 11am to 4pm.
Located in Sheffield Cathedral, it is in a central location in town. A perfect opportunity for freshers to explore new areas of Sheffield.
Tickets are £3, which can be bought beforehand or on the door. Tickets can be found here: Vintage Market tickets.
We spoke to Rosie, events manager for the market. She said:
“Vintage is great for students because it’s an affordable way to update your wardrobe”.
She added: “It’s sustainable, these pieces have been in circulation for a long time, and last well”.
When asked about the prices of clothing, she explained that the price range differs. This is because each trader prices their pieces independently.
She estimated that ‘on average, prices range from between £5 and £30.’
The market focuses on what is called ‘true vintage’. This includes pieces from the 90s and earlier.
Going to the market is a great way to support smaller businesses: “each trader is an independent business in its own right, and we are the ones to pull it all together”.
When asked why the market would be of interest to students, Rosie said:
“Sheffield has a great vintage scene, and this market is a great way to start exploring vintage”.
Lou Lou’s Vintage Market holds around 4 markets per year in Sheffield. They also do markets around the country every weekend.
When asked what the main reason is to visit the market, Rosie said:
”It’s a fabulous way to discover lots of unique pieces and high quality vintage…come and explore the amazing vintage scene that we have”
“It’s great for the environment – the whole point of vintage clothing”.
They also have a competition on their Facebook events page to win a £20 voucher for the market day, found here: Vintage Market voucher competition.
