Trespassers ignoring lockdown rules to play football on Goodwin sports pitches have raised concerns about the University’s security.

The issue was raised when a resident shared a photo of more than 20 people on the pitches playing football.

This is a clear violation of lockdown rules, with outdoor sports facilities being closed until 29 March.

A spokesperson for the University said: “Our security teams have been responding to all reports of misuse and have been carrying out active patrols during lockdown to monitor the area and prevent the pitches from being used.”

The pitches at Goodwin Sports Centre will be available for booking soon when outdoor facilities reopen. The University asks that people refrain from climbing over the security fences in order to access the grounds.
