The Union Jack at Firth Court was lowered to half-mast following news of the Queen’s death.
A book of condolences can be found at Porter’s Lodge in Firth Court, offering both students and staff an opportunity to pass on their condolences to the Royal Family.
Members of the University of all ages were seen gathering inside Porter’s Lodge last Friday.
The book of condolences is set to be open at Firth Court between 8am and 6pm weekdays and 8am to noon Saturday, until Tuesday, September 20.
This book is expected to be sent to the Royal Family in the near future.
Her Majesty holds a special place in the University’s history and affections, having paid royal visits to the University of Sheffield in 1954 and 2010.
In the coming days, the Chaplaincy Centre will provide information about how it will support staff and students who would like to reflect and grieve during this period.
The University has also shared that they plan to reflect on the Queen’s visits to the University and will be sharing photographs, videos, and memories to the wider public.
