Voting closes for Students’ Union elections with nearly 7,000 ballots casted

Voting for the SU elections has now officially ended, with turnout reaching 21%.

6,979 students voted in the elections, a rise on the 6,860 who cast their ballots in last year’s edition. 

The campaigns for those looking to fill one of thirteen leadership positions in the SU have now come to a close.

Seven of these are full-time positions, for which the elected candidates will receive a salary above £22,000, these are:

  • SU president
  • Activities and development officer
  • Liberation Officer
  • Education officer
  • Welfare and Sustainability Officer
  • Well-being and Sports officer
  • International and Community Officer.

The six part-time positions are officer roles representing:

  • Women students
  • Postgraduates
  • Mature students
  • BAME students
  • Disabled students
  • LGBT+ students 

The successful candidates will be announced tomorrow, Friday 8 March, at 7pm in Foundry.
