The Students’ Union have launched two student fundraising initiatives in the lead up to the online version of Underpass Festival, due to take place on Saturday 30 May.
The SU are encouraging students to either run five kilometers or bake a cake and post it to Instagram, tagging five friends to do the same and donating £5 to the campaign.
Named ‘Run-derpass’ and ‘Fun-derpass’ in tribute to the cancelled festival, the two initiatives are raising money for NHS Charities Together and Foodhall Sheffield, as well as Sheffield RAG at the SU.
The campaign is due to last 10 days, with the finale being the online edition of Underpass Festival which will take place via YouTube. Organisers hope that the festival will be “a fundraising event in itself.”
The line-up for Underpass online will be announced at 10am on Friday 22 May.
“This is a really exciting campaign that we’re launching, and we’re so pleased that Underpass Festival can be a huge force for good both for our country and the local Sheffield community,” said Jake Verity, SU President.
“We want to see as many student societies, sports teams, committees and groups sign up to this and make Students’ Union history. We know that our Students’ Union is more than just a building and that we are powered by our students.
“I’m sure this campaign is going to be a massive success, and will create an exciting build up for Underpass Music Festival, for the line-up is out on Friday!”
