Introducing: Sheffield Spotlight

Sheffield is a city with a rich music culture. From Def Leppard to The Human League, Pulp to Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley and Otis Mensah, Sheffield is bursting at the seams with musical talent. However, for smaller bands and artists, it can be hard to get the exposure needed.

That’s where we come in.

As students at University we are in a unique position: we have the money, time, energy and the opportunity to support local talent. But this can be hard, especially in a city with such a diverse music scene as Sheffield. Where do you look? How do you know which bands to support?

That’s why we, at the Forge Press Music section, are introducing Sheffield Spotlight.

Every month, we will pick a song from an up-and-coming, Sheffield-based artist, which we think is fantastic. We want to shine a light on the emerging talent in this city, and introduce our readers to some absolutely brilliant new music!
