Gearing up for the release of their debut album, A Happy Medium, local post-punk quintet SHEAFS released their single Monotonal Living in early June.
Infusing heavy rock and punk with a conventional indie sound, SHEAFS are one of the most energetic bands coming out of Sheffield at the moment. Their new single, Monotonal Living, is no exception.
A fantastic, Fontaines-esque track, Monotonal Living is a post-punk masterclass. Lead singer Lawrence Feenstra’s hauntingly intense vocals hang over the energetic and perpetually swelling guitar and drums, demonstrating the musical proficiency of the band. With lyrics discussing the glaring hypocrisies of life dependent on social media, Feenstra further demonstrates his talent for song-writing.
