SIX Gives Fans Chance to Sing on the West End

The West End production of the iconic show SIX The Musical are giving fans of the show the chance to perform a song from the musical on a West End stage. Taking to social media, Alternate performer for the roles of Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr in the West End Hannah Lowther announced that she would be hosting the competition on the musical’s official social media pages earlier today.

In a short video explaining the competition, Lowther said: “Queendom! You have a voice! For the first time ever, SIX The Musical West End will be hosting SIX Karaoke at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Explaining the competition, she said: “For your chance to sing this iconic music on a West End stage, all you need to do is post a video of yourself singing a song from the show on Instagram or TikTok, tagging @sixthemusical and using #YouHaveAVoice #SIXWestEndKaraoke”

Submissions are open until May 2nd, when three entrants will be selected to come on stage after the evening performance of SIX in the West End on June 6th and perform a section of their submission song for the audience.

Whilst this opportunity is the first in SIX’s history, it’s not the first time we’ve seen shows shifting to digital platforms to gauge the talent of their community and fans. Recently, the upcoming tour production of Dear Evan Hansen used a similar method to invite members of the community to auditions, via a TikTok competition, also involving a video song submission.

This latest virtual initiative is an extremely exciting opportunity for long-term fans of the musical, which has become a global sensation. Telling the story of the wives of King Henry VIII from a feminist perspective, the musical was written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss whilst at university, and has since gone on to become one of the most reputed modern musicals in the world, particularly among young audiences.

With another show embracing TikTok as a means of fan engagement, it is becoming more and more popular as a way of reaching wider communities in ways that musicals never have before. As the Queendom of the U.K. begin preparing their submissions for SIX’s first karaoke event, many will be hoping for their shot to perform on a West End stage, surrounded by fellow fans and the queens who made this musical so adored by so many
