Garry Monk’s Sheffield Wednesday fight back from 1-0 to win 2-1 courtesy of Steven Fletcher’s second brace in as many games.
A Mbeumo header saw the Bees leading at half time but two quickfire Fletcher goals rescued all three points for Wednesday.
Steven Fletcher’s brace last time out saw The Owls beat Charlton Athletic in the capital.
Meanwhile, visitors Brentford, who sit two places above Wednesday prior to kick off, beat Luton Town 7-0, with Josh Dasilva scoring a hat-trick.
Garry Monk made just one enforced change coming into this clash, with Fernando Forestieri having a knee injury and replacing him with Jacob Murphy.
The Owls started bright, in the opening minute Jacob Murphy’s cross was almost turned into the back of his own net by ex-Barnsley centre half, Ethan Pinnock.
But on the 29th minute, The Bees took the lead. Josh Dasilva’s cross was glanced home by Bryan Mbeumo for his sixth goal for the club, after poor marking from Garry Monk’s side.
This was the only action of note in an opening 45 minutes bereft of real quality, a half which Thomas Frank’s side edged.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Steven Fletcher came close to leveling matters.
He brought down a deflected Morgan Fox delivery before his improvised bicycle kick flashed inches wide.
Momentum grew as Wednesday began to press for an equaliser and Fletcher had another great chance to notch his ninth goal of the season.
He latched onto Dawson’s kick, brought the ball down under his spell and rifled towards goal. His fearsome shot was met by the strong right palm of Raya.
On the 69 minute mark, The Owls made their pressure pay, as Harris broke down the left side before crossing towards Adam Reach at the back post, only for Rico Henry to clearly handle the ball.
Referee Dean Whitestone pointed straight to the spot and Steven Fletcher stepped up to score his ninth goal this term and making it five goals in his last three games.
Minutes later Fletcher was at it again. Harris made light work down the left, his delivery was controlled by Fletcher who then swivelled and volleyed past Raya.
Brentford came on strong as the game neared its closing moments. Bryan Mbeumo struck high with his effort before Said Benrahma almost curled an 89th minute strike past Cameron Dawson.
However, Wednesday were able to hold out until the end, sealing their comeback victory.

“To come out in the second half and turn the game around against an impressive side and a hugely talented side, the players deserve huge credit for that.
“After 35 minutes I could have changed seven of them (substitutions), seven or eight of them, that’s how I felt, if I could have used seven subs at that point I probably would’ve.
“The whole team performance was exactly where we wanted it to be, exactly what we’re trying to be in that second half.”
Thomas Frank: “The most disappointing thing was, we lacked that coolness in the second half in terms of sometimes just keeping the ball, sometimes going for that kill and make that kill big enough.
“We created chances big enough, but we lacked the quality or decision or that good touch or pass to make it 2-0.”
