Sheffield students union shares updated covid-19 guidance.

Sheffield Students Union has shared new covid-19 guidance for all student groups in a weekly update.

Students are currently recommended to take two lateral flow tests a week and to self-isolate in the event of coming into contact with covid-19.

However, the weekly update circulated on 3rd December saw changes to guidance on face coverings and travel.

The new guidelines now state that all students and staff are expected to wear face coverings in all indoor settings where people will be in close proximity to others.

This includes: “when moving around buildings, in meetings or workshops, and in other settings where close contact is likely to occur.”

SU has also outlined scenarios where the wearing of face coverings may not be required, for example: when seated and not in close proximity to others, when presenting and not in close proximity to others, when eating or drinking and when participating in activities where the wearing of face coverings would be “unworkable or impractical.”

Following the new government guidance surrounding travel, that arrivals into the UK now have to self-isolate until a negative result, the SU has also released information regarding trips abroad.

Citing this new situation as “uncertain”, the Students Union has asked student groups, specifically student societies, to “consider the practicalities of booking trips, particularly abroad, and any implications that might result from cancellation or changes to travel restrictions.”

This new guidance will be updated following relevant changes to covid-19 guidelines by the government.
