Get Together festival is back for a third time round this year, with Friendly Fires, CMAT and Do Nothing all set to appear.
Taking place on Saturday, 20th May, the festival, which last year took place in and around the Student’s Union, has now moved to Kelham Island, where it will have 10 stages spread across Kelham’s warehouses, breweries and other unconventional spaces. With Kelham Island favourites Peddler set to be providing the street food options, and local record store Spinning Discs hosting a pop-up record shop, the festival will have something to offer for everyone.
Over 40 artists will be playing the festival, including British indie legends Friendly Fires, who will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. With tickets for their anniversary tour having sold out, this year’s Get Together might be the only chance fans get to hear the band play their debut album in full for a long time. Joining Friendly Fires is Irish pop star CMAT, who’s recent single Mayday was released to great reviews.
Elsewhere on the line-up are Nottingham-based indie band Do Nothing, who’s indie stock is rising faster and faster as they continue to excite crowds up and down the country. Joining Do Nothing are local Sheffield lads Drastic//Automatic. The band, who’s next headline show is at Sidney&Matilda on 16th February, are one of their best up-and-coming acts in Sheffield. Boasting intense guitar and and incredibly energetic atmosphere, Drastic are sure to be one of the highlights of the festival.
Music aside, Get Together will also see the return of a local favourite: Pale Rider, the famous craft ale from Kelham Island Brewery, will be stock at the festival. It won’t be the only beer on offer, however, as the festival has teamed up with some of the best breweries across the country to run ‘The Kelham Beer Mile’ at the festival, with tap takeovers from the likes of Verdant, Deya, Boxcar and more.
Festival organiser Kieran Crosby had this to say: “The support and love from our audiences over past two festivals has been amazing, and we wanted to make sure the 2023 Get Together is the best yet. I’m so excited by the new artists that are playing and urge everyone to check out our playlist to discover something that will blow their mind. And partnering with some of Sheffield’s best independent venues, traders and breweries has meant that there’s an unbelievable number of creative plans in the process. People won’t be disappointed!”
