AGMs 2024: 2024/25 Committee for Art Society revealed

The Art Society of the University of Sheffield have recently elected their next leading committee, to take over from the current team in their roles. Their AGM, with voting taking place over the past week, has given the society an entirely new leadership team heading into the next academic year.

Art Society is a student group for both art admirers and artists themselves, with the society emphasising the need for no prior experience in any regard to join in. They run many artistic sessions during the semester, including pottery painting, oil painting, zine making and mixed media art sessions, with a range of resources available for members to experiment with.

Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are an annual event in each society’s calendar, when constitution changes are voted on and new committee members are elected. Should roles remain outstanding following an AGM, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) can be scheduled to fill remaining roles. Each society has four core roles, namely President, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare & Inclusions Officer, which must be filled in order for a society to continue activities into the next academic year.

The committee-elect for the 2024/25 academic year is as follows:

  • President ~ Ziad Tamer Elderini (formerly Social Media & Events Officer, preceded by Cora)
  • Secretary ~ Anoushka Somalanka (preceded by Sadaf)
  • Treasurer ~ Helen Musie (preceded by Katie Taplin)
  • Welfare & Inclusions Officer & Social Media Officer ~ Arshiya Kharel (preceded by Áine Robinson)
  • Welfare & Inclusions Officer & Social Media Officer ~ Lucy Gregory (preceded by Ischia Turk)
