The University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society (USLES) have revealed the members of their committee for the 2024/25 academic year. Holding their AGM on April 18th, the society have elected the members to lead their group into the next year of silliness and shows, and bring us more of everything we have come to know USLES for.

USLES is theatrical society which prides itself on being a calmer environment than many other societies. Running one show each semester, the group prides itself on casting every person who auditions for a show in one form or another, meaning no one leaves auditions empty-handed. Their semester 1 show The Cheese Time was well received, and preparations are in place for their upcoming production Chosen Ones, an original script that is also due to be the society’s first musical production.

Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are an annual event in each society’s calendar, when constitution changes are voted on and new committee members are elected. Should roles remain outstanding following an AGM, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) can be scheduled to fill remaining roles. Each society has four core roles, namely President, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare & Inclusions Officer, which must be filled in order for a society to continue activities into the next academic year.

The committee-elect for the 2024/25 academic year is as follows:

  • President ~ Barbara McLaughlin (formerly Secretary, preceded by Martha Allison)
  • Secretary ~ Mason (preceded by Barbara McLaughlin)
  • Treasurer ~ Katie Carthew (preceded by Heather Ellis)
  • Welfare & Inclusions Officer ~ Will (preceded by Bronnie Hetti)
  • Publicity Officer ~ Aarushi Dumir (preceded by Darcey Severne)
  • Social Secretary ~ Joris (preceded by Kirsty Lucas)
  • Technical Officer ~ Autumn Ten Dam
