Sheffield RAG to hold Charity Blind Book Sale

The fundraising group Sheffield Raising & Giving (RAG) are holding a charity book sale initiative across the next two weeks in an effort to raise money for charity. The Blind Date Book Sale runs from April 29th to May 2nd, with book donations taking place from Monday.

The official Sheffield RAG Instagram account recently announced: “Come and try our Blind Date Charity Book Sale! Commencing on the 29th of April. Take the dive and discover a new read whilst supporting two important causes”. The scheme invites students to drop off their old books on Monday April 22nd at the Volunteering Office, located on level three of the Students’ Union, before returning from April 29th to buy one of the donated books, without seeing which book they receive.

Proceeds from the book sale will be distributed to two charities selected by Sheffield RAG. Sparkle Sheffield is a local charity dedicated to supporting families with autistic children through practical support, advice, information and outreach services to local groups. The group also hosts online activities, and can provide autism awareness cards to parents, should subtle disclosure be required. As well as Sparkle Sheffield, proceeds will also be distributed to The Gaza Emergency Appeal, helping civilians affected by the war in the Middle East. The initiative seeks to provide food, medical attention and other provisions to people caught up in the Israel/Gaza conflict, as well as alleviating some of the challenges the war is imposing on people.

The RAG Charity Blind Date Book Sale is a fantastic opportunity to declutter an old book or two and pick up some new reads, whilst also giving money to two vital causes. With the end of semester and summer on the horizon, now is a perfect opportunity to get your hands on book you may never have picked up yourself, and support charity causes whilst you do.

Donations to the RAG Charity Blind Date Book Sale will be received on Monday April 22nd at the Volunteering Office on level three of the Students’ Union. The Book Sale will be running from April 29th to May 2nd
